Plot Sketch

Back to day 3. Need to revise my plot sketch. Had an epiphany at midnight that helped pull a sloppy plot together. It's amazing how easy it was to update, following Wiesner's methodology. The trick is NOT to get ahead of myself. S L O W down and let this thing percolate. Don't be afraid to revise. sleepless in Dallas

Staying up for nights at a time...wrestling with characters, motives, subplots and resolutions...then software crashes. Had to reinstall my Storybase (Plots Unlimited, Sawyer)software AND discovered a really cool resource at STORYBASE.net to help with developing dialogue....appears to be free. Worth the troll.

Half Price Books to help you write

I found a few goodies to share:

1. Writer's Guide to Character Traits by Edelstein
2. Plot & Structure by Bell
3. Plots Unlimited by Sawyer and Weingarten
4. 45 Master Characters: Mythic Models for Creating Original Characters, by Schmidt

Very helpful in getting this up and running...

Up and Running!

This....for all you would-be's out there!

I just picked up Karen Wiesner's FIRST DRAFT IN 30 DAYS: a novel writer's system for building a complete and cohesive manuscript...and I'm into it about a week now.

I've completed all the assignments on time -- most likely because I've been living with this plot and these characters for, oh, about 10 years!

It's been good staying on track and having a format to follow. If you're like me (creative types are weird) then you need that accountability (as much as you don't want to admit it!)

I guess I'll just keep posting these thoughts and see if there's anyone out there like me who needs a running mate to get that first draft up and out. If so, please let me know!
